About This Spot
Stepping into Shino Sushi + Kappo in the heart of Little Italy is like entering a quiet, refined retreat from the city’s bustle. The space blends a subtle energy with a welcoming intimacy—soft conversation hums around the sushi bar while the gentle rhythm of chefs preparing each piece fills the air. Whether you find yourself perched at the sushi bar or seated at a cozy table, there’s an easy flow here that balances attentiveness with a calm, unhurried pace.
The atmosphere invites you to slow down, to watch the craftsmanship unfold in front of you, and to savor both familiar and thoughtfully creative flavors. This isn’t a place focused on spectacle but on genuine connections—the shared moment of fresh, carefully selected fish paired with polished, quiet service. You might catch the satisfying crisp of perfectly fried chicken karaage, or the subtle heat of a spicy yellowtail roll, each bite a small revelation within a warm, human-centered setting.
Shino feels like a naturally woven part of the neighborhood—a spot locals return to for its blend of sincerity and precision. The sushi bar, in particular, draws those who want to be in the thick of the experience, watching chefs deftly prepare orders with ease and grace. The pace never rushes you, inviting you to linger over conversation, a shared drink, or the soft sound of thoughtful preparation.
The staff’s natural warmth and attentiveness deepen the sense of belonging. This is a place where the people behind the counter are as much a part of the experience as the food itself—ready to guide and offer quiet suggestions, making your visit feel personal and considered. For those seeking a thoughtful sushi destination in Little Italy, Shino presents itself as a quietly confident choice, one where the atmosphere and flavors unfold together in an understated, authentic way.

Service is generally solid. The staff is super friendly attentive and most are very knowledgeable. I prefer the sushi bar over the tables for the atmosphere— but to each their own. The food is solid. They don’t have a traditional Omakase unless you reserve over a week in advance and state that’s what you want but they will do a mini omakase of nigiri only on same day if requested. The sushi / sashimi is too notch here. It’s definitely in my regular rotation of rest. Worth checking out if you’re visiting or live here.

We just moved to Little Italy area and we’re recommended Shino as the best local sushi spot. We went for dinner this past Saturday and I now understand why it was highly recommended! The sushi was incredible, the staff was quick and on point, and it was the best little spot for a great date night! We will be back and highly recommend for anyone looking for the best sushi joint in little Italy!

Had an amazing experience! Made a reservation for when they opened and was given the option for seating, chose the bar and had the best view in the place. The service was PHENOMENAL. And every item ordered was delicious. Tried the hamachi despite not liking sashimi and it was excellent, definitely recommend.

My partner and I sat at the bar right in front of the sushi chefs! Highly recommend. Spent $110 after tax and tip. Ordered the Hamachi Jalapeño + Kitchen Sink + Toro Toro.

Great little sushi bar, very active even on a Wednesday night. It struck me as more for locals and will not be found by the typical tourist. Everything was very fresh but the prices are way more than where I live in Florida. I do have to say that they're speaking Japanese. Very unusual for a sushi bar these days! Domo arigato!!

The service was friendly and welcoming. The rolls were awesome. As a bonus they had Japanese beer on draft and the saki was delicious. Like any other high quality sushi establishemt you must be willing the pay the price. In other words "You Get What You Pay For". Would definitely want to eat here again.

Fresh wasabi is unreal and the fish is super fresh and so so good. Standout service (we went months apart and the server remembered things about our order preferences, drinks, and even allergies).
